About WE LOVE ROCK AND ROLL

"I don't give a damn about my reputation..." I say to myself at the junior high lunch table. obviously quoting the Joan Jett song in particular. My many guy friends at the time interrupt...they say​,​ "Actually​,​ that's something you should care about!". I ignored them at that time​,​ as always​,​ but we could be talking about anything; comic books​,​ video games​,​ music​,​ our favorite movies. No matter what​,​ I was always the one who was "wrong" when I was in a group conversation. My father was also like this​,​ as he would dismiss my emotions or skills as a "womanly" thing​,​ and would make little effort to understand what I thought or felt. Throughout my life​,​ I have known of and listened to many amazing women​,​ in both the art and music industries. Joan Jett is one of them (obviously!) and I grew up knowing and loving her songs​,​ until just recently​,​ at 19 years old​,​ I FINALLY got to see her in concert! Seeing someone like her up there on the stage at U.S. Bank Stadium made me​,​ a college sophomore who still hasn't broken into the industry yet​,​ hopeful at the fact that women have always been capable and skilled in all kinds of fields. My fields in particular are art and music. I have been drawing and creating ever since I could remember​,​ as well as playing the piano (and recently I have picked up the guitar). Being in the industry of the arts is hard enough for anyone​,​ but it is obvious that women have had many hardships within this industry​,​ whether they are not taken seriously​,​ or not even considered for certain positions and jobs. With this tour poster position​,​ I jumped on the idea immediately. While I am younger​,​ and may not be as experienced as the many​,​ MANY other artists that are working hard on their own posters​,​ I still have the intense drive and passion for my work that I wish to finally get to show to people! It would be a massive honor to create artwork for one of the most known and loved women within the music business​,​ and all I hope for is to be taken seriously​,​ and have my art be seen! I have attached my vision for the Joan Jett tour poster​,​ as well as many other artworks based on bands​,​ or simply pieces relating to my original characters and my own graphic designs. (P.S. If Joan is reading this​,​ I snuck up front when you started your set at U.S. Bank Stadium. I was wearing a battle vest and singing all the words​,​ before I was caught​,​ and promptly kicked back to my actual seat. My favorite song is probably Cherry Bomb. Love you. ＜3)
