Hello! My name is Sorrel Galantowicz, and I just graduated with a master's in Popular Music Research. I have extensive experience in music audience research and am passionate about ensuring amazing musical talent gets the audience it deserves! I also have a background in social media based research and digital marketing analytics. I am lucky enough to have worked with up-and-coming DJ and artist BIIANCO, accompanying them to festivals and other live performances to act as a videographer and content creator. A music video I shot and directed for BIIANCO has been featured in a Notion article and gone viral on Instagram! I am particularly excited about working with other queer and non-binary artists to increase their visibility in the industry. Representation is so important!

I am currently pursuing a Master’s of Music (MMus) in Popular Music Research at Goldsmiths University of London. My specific interests within the field include youth audience engagement and analysis, popular music as a site of community formation and support, and ethical music management and marketing.
I am currently in the process of writing a dissertation on the subject of popular music as a site of intergenerational communication, female empowerment, and queer identity. During this process I am engaging in research through extensive literature review as well as qualitative interviews. I am supervised in this pursuit by Professor Keith Negus.
As an undergraduate at the University of Vermont I successfully defended an honors thesis titled Understanding K-Pop Twitter as a Site of Transnational Social Media Activism: Transcultural communication and affinity in the context of fan community formation, collective action, and identity negotiation. During this process I engaged in hand-coded social media sentiment analysis, complex network analysis, and spatial data analysis and visualization.
Bachelor’s Degree with honors in Geography and Global Studies May 2021 Minors: Public Communication
