About the seller
Lex
Beginning with cello lessons at age 3, Alexa Wolfe has studied music her entire life. As a young teen she inherited a letter from her Great Uncle Wally Gordon, who once drummed for jazz icons like Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra. It was a letter Louis had written him about a time they’d spent together on tour, and it inspired her to pursue a life as a performer. She switched her focus from cello and vocal jazz to bass guitar, delving into artists with bass titans like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Michael Jackson, and Rush.
While earning her BS in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin, Alexa helped lead her band to regional success, gaining notoriety by doubling as a Led Zeppelin tribute band, touring nationally with over 250+ stations of college radio support, and landing licensing deals with major networks like MTV, VH1, and FOX. After graduation, she started expanding her skill set by studying the drums, keys, theory and production. She relocated to the live music capital of the world, Austin, TX, where she cut there teeth as a hired gun, playing a variety of styles ranging from reggae and hip-hop to indie and metal.
She was then hired by all-female Warped Tour vets Sick of Sarah. Fresh off the road with Heart & The Bangles, and the momentum of an album with over 1.7 million downloads, Ryan Seacrest praised them as “The Next Joan Jett & The Blackhearts” on E!. While on tour, they filmed AXS TV & YouTube Studio’s reality TV show Breaking Band with icons like Belinda Carlisle & Dave Navarro. Wolfe spent the next few years delving into Top 40s, songwriting, and country in the Nashville Broadway scene, ultimately relocating to LA, where she is a regular performer at the Viper Room’s famous Sunset Jam and currently pursues touring and session work with a variety of pop and rock artists.
Her style ranges from tight funk grooves to tasteful pop licks and heavy hard rock riffs—a natural pocket player. She’s an intuitive and dynamic songwriter, with a knack for creating arrangements that elevate the song. Notable for her “raw energy” and “highly athletic live performance,” Alexa Wolfe is a true entertainer, complete with two feet of swinging dreadlocks, and the chops to back them up.
She’s had the honor of sharing the stage with: Joan Jett, Belinda Carlisle (The Go-Gos), Counting Crows, Shinedown, Rise Against, Everclear, Saliva, Theory of a Deadman, Candlebox, Tantric, Ruby Rose, Uh Huh Her, Rancid, Silverstein, Hollywood Undead and more.
